Lesbian weekends
Dates for 2027 coming soon!
These will be an informal weekend where lesbian women can enjoy a closed house at the Women’s Holiday Centre and either organise activities together or just spend time chatting and relaxing. Come with friends, partners, come by yourself, come however suits you, make new friends, laugh, chat and feel at home.
Feel free to spread the word about these events among you friends, groups and networks for those you think might be interested!
Older boys times
October: Friday 23rd – Sunday 25th
**PLACES STILL AVAILABLE**These times are set aside for women to be able to bring boys up to their 15th birthday (boys up to their 11th birthday are welcome all year round).
The specific plans and activities for these times very much depend on the women who book, what the boys who come with them would like to do, and what the weather is like. There are loads of options of things to do whatever the season, and interesting places to go locally, such as walks, a castle and woods, waterfalls to explore, etc., and we have a living room with a real fire plus plenty of board games, books, DVDs etc. We also have an area for a bonfire outside in our garden, as well as space for outdoor games and other activities.
Volunteer work week
November: Tuesday 17th – Friday 20th
Come for a day and night or a few days, whatever works for you!
There is plenty to do around the house to improve its well-being and aesthetic. The tasks for this week include, interior work of preparing, painting and decorating rooms and doors. We will list the specific tasks in October.
We ask that volunteers commit to 5 hours of volunteering each day on tasks that are arranged in advance. Given that most volunteers are not local, for every day worked, we will give you a free nights stay at the centre with all food included as usual.
End of year gathering
December: Friday 18th – Monday 21st

As the year winds down, we’d love you to join us at the Women’s Centre for a cosy, relaxed end-of-year get-together. Come and hang out, catch up, meet other women, go for a walk, curl up by the indoor fires in our two cosy living rooms, gather around the fire pit in our large private garden, share food, play games or join in with whatever activities are happening. Or just come and do absolutely nothing for a while. There’s no pressure and no big agenda — just a chance to be together, slow down, enjoy some good food and company, and see out the year in a warm and welcoming space. Please note, this weekend is exclusively adults only.
External events in the surrounding area
There are often different events and activities on offer in the surrounding areas that are accessible from the centre by train, bus, car or (or foot if you’re a walker!). We will update this section as and when new events come up.
