Horton Women's Holiday Centre

Providing affordable holidays for women and children since 1980

Accessibility

The centre currently offers basic accessibility including level access to the ground floor, a ramp into the kitchen and a downstairs shower room. For women unable to use stairs, a sofa-bed can be set up in the playroom. The centre is committed to making ongoing changes to help improve accessibility. We welcome feedback and suggestions. This is the current accessibility information:

  • There is a ramp at the side entrance to the kitchen; workers can also assist if needed.
  • The ground floor has level access, including an accessible toilet and shower.
  • Kitchen appliances, sockets, and cooker may not be accessible for most wheelchair users.
  • The front door has five steps with a grab rail and yellow step edges.
  • Sensor-activated lights are at both entrances and for night-time stair use.
  • Steps lead from the playroom and living room to the garden—sensor light available, but no grab rail.
  • A double sofa-bed can be set up in the playroom with an extra mattress available for a companion or support worker.
  • The upstairs bathroom does not have grab rails.
  • Accredited support dogs are welcome; no other pets allowed. A house cat is present but restricted from bedrooms, playromm and main living room.
  • Guests should be mindful of food allergies—please notify us in advance.
  • Sharps bins need to be brought by guests who need them, and taken home by guests.
  • Please contact us to discuss any specific requirements.
